One Positive Thought

It has been long known that positive energy attracts positive energy, and negative energy begets negative energy. People that are always happy go-lucky and bright and quirky seem to never have a truly bad day, and if they do, they often bounce right back to their usual selves. Those that are usually mad or upset over something can usually be found complaining…about everything. Because for them, for some reason nothing ever goes right. And there’s really only one explanation for this.

It’s all dependent on how you let yourself look at things.

This week’s quote art was borrowed from Livvit’s Instagram:

That’s why just focusing on one small good thing during your day can make you feel better. If you wake up and immediately think about how it’s Monday and you wish the weekend hadn’t ended yet and how you just want to go back to bed; well you’re not going to have a great day because you’re setting yourself up for a bad one.

You can’t go into your day already expecting it to be awful and put it on the world to prove you wrong. Trust me, it’ll do everything in its power to prove you right in this instance. That’s why it’s up to you to change your mindset. Your happiness is ultimately up to you, so if you chose to harshly judge everything by first glance you’re never going to be happy. You have to open up and give things a chance.

Rather than waking up and thinking about how you’d rather roll over and go back to sleep, focus on something you’ll look forward to that day. Focus on the really good lunch or dinner you’ve got planned, or being able to see a work friend during the day. Remind yourself that there is something to actually look forward to that day, and it won’t seem all that bad. Even if you’re in a really rough depressed patch and the best thing you can think of is getting back home to crawl right back into bed – remind yourself that the sooner you’re up and moving the sooner you’ll be crawling back into bed.

You’d be surprised how uplifting it can be to remind yourself of all of the GOOD things in your life rather than focusing on the bad and making yourself depressed. If you do start feeling bad and putting the world down, go ahead and let it happen for the moment, but don’t let it take over. Once you’ve had your moment look around you and find one thing to be happy about, or that makes you feel good about your surroundings. Maybe it’s the photo of your family on your desk, or your dog or cat curled up nearby taking a nap, or even the sun shining outside lighting up a beautiful view outside of your window.

Focus on finding the good in the world, and eventually you won’t notice the bad as much.

What’s one positive thought that you have?

Mine is waking up and being able to cuddle with Zach and our dogs before I get up to go to work, and knowing that I get to come home to them all happy to see me at the end of the day.

Let’s be positive this week.

till next time,

Smooth Sailing

Easy lives never make for strong people. I feel like there are probably several ways to go about saying this, as with other phrases. But I feel like this week’s quote is probably the most poetic way of doing so.

smooth sailing

In essence, easy lives generally mean no problems, no struggles, no hardships or stress. No lessons to learn from. This means a lack of experience. The hardest struggles are the ones you end up learning the most from, as I’ve come to find in my own life.

You find out just who you’re made of, and you walk away a better and stronger person. So don’t be afraid of facing problems head-on. It’s just a doorway to a better you.

Here’s to hoping that this week isn’t *too* easy for you, but that you face all of your challenges head-on and conquer each of them in turn. You can do it, I just know it!

What was one hardship or problem you faced in the past, and how do you feel like it bettered you? Let me know in the comments below!

Be Led By Your Dreams

Hello Tuesday! This week’s QOTW is a little late – time got a tad bit away from me this week! But that’s why I feel like this quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson is even more fitting for this week.

2018 Led By Dreams

Don’t let your problems be the source of your motivation to move forward. Be led by the idea of reaching your goals and accomplishing your dreams.

If you allow your problems to be the reason why you get a job – say because your problem is that you need more money – you’re going to be miserable. If you’re at a job simply because you need more money for bills, sure you may solve the problem of not enough cash, but you aren’t necessarily going to be happy. Let’s say that instead, you searched for and got a job that was a stepping stone to starting the career you’ve always wanted. It may not solve your short-term problems and you may have to live a little bit more simply, but you’ll be so happy knowing that you’re heading in the direction that will lead you to reaching your dream job.

I feel like so many of us get caught up in “adulting” and getting a job to make money to pay bills to afford even just the basics in life that we forget to dream and to use the position that we are in to further our goals and follow our passions. Because even if you do have to take up some random job just because you need some sort of income, you don’t have to forget to maybe set aside time to take steps or do research to reach your own goals. Or even use the money you’re getting to save up to take that world trip you’ve always wanted, or to open up a restaurant or boutique. Or to use that money to put yourself through school to one day get into the career you dreamt of as a kid.

So, with that being said, remember your passions and dreams. Don’t let them take the back burner for too long. You’ll be more happy and satisfied if you don’t.

Make A Plan

This week’s QOTW is inspired by none other than Winston Churchill himself. Recently we found out that although we were originally told we would be able to renew our lease, we will have to be moving out at the end of April due to our landlord’s personal reasons. So up until now, at the end of March, we haven’t worried about packing or purging or obviously even looking for a new home. So now more than ever, I need a plan.

We have a LOT to do over the next few weeks, so this week I’ll be formulating a plan so that hopefully everything runs smoothly. I will probably turn the experience into a blog post because, hey, that’s what bloggers do. Lol.

That being said, we will be SUPER DUPER busy this month. So off I go to start making a short notice moving plan. Here goes nothing…

Hello + Welcome!

Hi there. If you couldn’t tell from the sidebar or the About page, my name is Katie. This is my blog. And you, my friend, are reading the first post ever to be made live here.

Let me tell you a bit about myself. I’ve been blogging for years…my first blog, and the one that I have since grown out of, was started in June of 2012. Yup. Long time ago. I had just turned 18, so obviously I knew everything there was about life and how this thing called “being an adult” should work. HA. Anyways, that blog started out as just a place to share nail art that I did. Soon after that it blossomed into a full on blog, covering all the topics I loved – nail art, makeup, games, and more.

It’s been 5 years since starting that last blog, and over the last year or so, I’ve come to realize that I had outgrown it and the presence I had built. Don’t get me wrong, I still love nail art, makeup, video games and the like. But I’ve developed as a person to the point where I felt like trying to change my old blog to be everything I NOW need it to be was kind of pointless. So rather than essentially gutting my online 5 year old baby, I’ve decided to let it grow old, I will let it go back to the free-given webname that comes with the WordPress.com sites, let the CSS customization come down, and essentially saying goodbye to my past. Because I had realized why I was clinging so hard to something that I no longer was enjoying. It was the last piece of my younger self, when I thought that so many things would be different from how they are now.

But people change and grow, and just like flowers we sometimes need to be uprooted and replanted elsewhere if we are to continue to grow.

With that all out of the way, I give you a big through-the-computer hug to welcome you to the next chapter in my life online. Live Love Sunshine is going to be where I come to chat about life and things that I enjoy, including games, movies, DIY projects, self care, and my journey to start living healthier (because let’s face it, at 23 – 24 in June! O.O ) I need to stop eating pizza and takeout 4 out of 7 days in the week. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Overall, I want this to be my de-stressing zone. My chill and fun area where I can share all of the things that I love and figure out this thing called “adulting”.

I hope you enjoy the ride with me.

till next time,

~katie
